Hi. I’m Josh.

In August of 2005, when I was 3 years old, I was in a car accident. A pretty bad one.

In fact, the little car that I was in was involved in a hit-and-run car accident with TWO semi-trucks.

I was hurt pretty bad (here are some pictures of my experience), and spent a long time in the hospital. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury, and my life looks a lot different than other peoples – and a lot different than it probably would have if I hadn’t been in that car.

But I was, and so I spend my life trying my best to be the best. It’s hard, and there’s a lot of things that aren’t fair, but I know that there are a lot of things that aren’t fair for a LOT of people, and so I wanted to do what I could to help.

And so I wrote a book. I would love to share it with you.

I am donating 100% of the proceeds of my book to the Sunshine Foundation.

They’re a really amazing group that is special to me.  The Sunshine Foundation grants all kinds of wishes to kids and teenagers. Some kids it might be an iPad, an Xbox, or a trip to an amusement park. Sometimes it is a medical device that makes life a little easier or a wheelchair swing for their backyard to make life a little more fun.

For some families it may be the first and only vacation they will ever be able to take together as a family.

My dad remembers our experience with the Sunshine Foundation like this:

“In August of 2010, Josh was granted his wish of visiting Disney World in Orlando Florida. It was a four day, three night trip. They covered all the expenses including travel, accommodations and park tickets. Even that Mickey Mouse ice cream bar was covered. Which ended up melting all over his shirt.

To give you one small idea of the impact of a dream being granted, as we were driving towards the parking for the Magic Kingdom, there is a huge sign with Mickey and Minnie Mouse on it. When Josh saw that sign, he clapped his hands so hard he actually hurt them!

The kind of difference it can make for a family is profound. Ten months earlier my home was foreclosed on, my truck was repossessed and I filed for bankruptcy. You could have written an entire country music album about my life that month.

Having no resources as a parent is painful. I imagine you can identify with it whenever you have gone through lean, trying times financially yourself.

Watching Josh come alive on that trip allowed my heart to grow a bit after having been deflated for so long.

Something important. The Sunshine Foundation has a higher rating on Charity Navigator for using their funds wisely than another wish granting organization, whose name I am sure you are more familiar with.”
